30 December 2004

I have released data files for Kawaks v1.50 and RAINE v0.42.3.

Get them from the data files page.

5 December 2004

I have now completed the guide about compiling RAINE.

4 December 2004

I have updated my guides about compiling MAME and RAINE again!

I have now split the guide into two parts since a lot of stuff is RAINE specific and not needed by MAME.

The following changes have been made to the MAME guide:

  • Updated the GNU tools to more recent versions (taken from http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/)

  • Explained how to build a Pentium Pro optimised version.

  • Explained when 'make clean' should be used.

  • Explained how to use apply MAME updates using 'patch' (for building interim releases).

  • Removed the the UNIX_TOOLS variable (since it is no longer required).

The following changes have been made to the RAINE32 guide:

  • Added a section about MSYS because it is required to compile SDL and RAINE.

  • Added a section about SDL because it is used by RAINE v0.40.3 onwards.

  • Removed the section on SEAL because it is no longer used (SDL is used instead).

  • Updated Allegro to the stable 4.0.3 release.

  • Updated zlib to version 1.2.1.

  • Updated UPX to version 1.25.

There is still some work to be done on the RAINE guide but is now better than it was!

2 December 2004

I have updated my guide about compiling MAME and RAINE. The previous guide would successfully compile MAME but it would crash when starting a game (due to the suggested version of GCC being too old).

I have also removed the guide for compiling DOS versions of MAME and RAINE since it was outdated and I don't wish to maintain it any longer.

25 November 2004

Released DatLib v1.12, DatUtil v2.9 and MAMEDiff v2.12 to fix a problem that periodically arises with intermediate MAME builds (e.g. MAME 0.88u7).

24 November 2004

Released all of the required updates for MAME v0.89.

Get them from the data files page.

23 November 2004

Released a data file for RAINE v0.42.0.

Get it from the data files page.

11 November 2004

I've released a data file for ZiNc v1.0.2.

Get it from the data files page.

26 October 2004

I've released an updated data file for ZiNc v1.0.1.
A few of the ROMs turned out to use slightly different names to MAME. The data file should be 100% correct now.

Get it from the data files page.

Released DatLib v1.11, DatUtil v2.8 and MAMEDiff v2.11 which all support ZiNc --list-sets output.

Also released ROMBuild v2.2

25 October 2004

Released all of the required updates for MAME v0.88.

Get them from the data files page.

I have also generated a data file for ZiNc v1.0.1 but I won't have a chance to try the emulator out for a few days.
I've made it the data file available for download but please remember that it has not been tested with the emulator yet.

I have added supplements for the Sega Model 2 Emulator data file and also moved the Nebula Model 2 data file into the Older Emus collection (also with supplements).

Roman has updated the MAME Samples data file and created a dummy sample too!
